About Our Ministry in Eswatini

Why Eswatini?

We believe that God has special place in his heart for the people living in the Kingdom of Eswatini. We’re here to help the Swazi people see God’s heart for them and to help them sustainably uplift their communities where possible.

Kingdom of Eswatini Statistics

Eswatini has the world’s highest infection rate of HIV at 27 percent –affecting over 295,000 of the 1.1 million Swazis in the country. The nation recently experienced the worst drought in the last 100 years –during which, food insecurity was facing one-in-three Swazis. With a life expectancy of 57 years and poor employment opportunities, Eswatini needs help to ensure the next generation can be effective leaders.

Our Mission and Vision

our vision

Our vision is to see
Transformed Individuals for
Family and Community Transformation.

For over 15 years, we’ve worked to help children find God and thrive. We want to go beyond just loving children. For maximum impact, we need to embrace their families, especially disadvantaged families. We believe facilitating unity and care within the family unit is vital for personal and community transformation. As we embrace families and individuals, we want them to look beyond us to God who is their father and defender in all circumstances.

Our mission is

Training transformed individuals to transform their families and communities through discipleship, asset-based community development, and a holistic approach toward addressing the complex issues of poverty.

As the people we train see their lives transformed, we hope they’ll seek to respectfully see positive change happen in others. We don’t want to provide aid, we want to start a movement of people who help each other and their communities without motive.

Longterm, we would like to see Eswatini become a leadership training ground to the surrounding nations and more. We aim to help people get a solid foundation so they can confidently walk into their next step in their journey –whether that means business, ministry, or missions.

What We Do in Eswatini

We tend to each child holistically for survival, family strengthening, community development, education, basic medical, and future employment. Encouraging them to maintain a focus on sustainability, discipleship, leadership, personal independence, and long-term self-sufficiency. We also help transform the lives of our partners and neighbors through exposure, education, relationships, and service.

Empower

Helping create self-sufficiency for every child
Empowered local leaders share the gospel, disciple, and help create self-sufficiency for every child. Our local leaders are hand selected from our CarePoints, where we often see teenagers who are natural leaders. We work with these young adults and their families to create opportunities for them though a program called the Swazi Leadership Academy.

Engage

Healthy international development practices
Encouraging partners to directly engage in healthy international development practices using asset-based development plans. Our development plans are created with active involvement with the broader community through open community meetings and active discussions with community leaders.

Develop

Leadership development and sustainability
Through our strategic partnerships we help implement, fund, and manage leadership development and sustainability in Eswatini communities. Our four year Umdoni program takes young adults through a journey of intense personal change to help them become holistic leaders for their communities.

Uplift

Long-term community development projects
We address the complex causes of poverty, including material, spiritual, emotional, social, economic, and educational needs. We’ve helped communities install solar wells, playgrounds, gardens, greenhouses, preschools, trade schools, community gardens, and even a roadside market.

Multiply

Paying it forward
We get excited when we see our students and staff take the knowledge and skills from their leadership training and imparting that wisdom to others around them. We encourage students to ripple their ideas, dreams, and skills to others around them in the community.

Send

A leadership movement that extends past borders
The long-term goal of leadership development programs is to send our staff and students back into communities and nations. We deeply desire to see a vast network of vision minded holistic servant leaders who lead from conviction instead of leading from fear or problems.
